Garden Bliss by StarvingArtistKei Garden Bliss by StarvingArtistKei
This is a resist collage. You make a collage out of magazine images, then apply glue where you want the image to remain (or "resist"). Then use some stuff (I can't remember what it is... shoe polish? No? Lord knows. It's some chemical that removes the ink from the images) to distort the colours of the collage that's not protected by the glue. You can fade the ink a little or a lot; you can even smear the ink. It's pretty cool.

Cardstock, magazine cut-outs, glue, ... and that stuff I can't remember  I made this about a year ago.

I got a scanner for Christmas, so as you can see, I'm finally able to put up some of my other works... That is, I'm not too lazy to use my new scanner, because it's in my room ^ ^

Edit: The chemical was called "never dull." It is a polishing compound that can be found at hardware stores. Apparently, it has been harder to find - you can use nail polish remover.

P.S. Wow!! A Daily Deviation?? Thank you so very much, especially to `oedalis!! *humble bow* I truly appreciate your support!

Tis ok~ in fact, I was only just recently able to find out what it was (I had long forgotten). It's a chemical was called "never dull." It is a polishing compound that can be found at hardware stores. Apparently, it has been harder to find - you can use nail polish remover. Enjoy!

I just used regular elmer's glue (like the stuff you played with in grade school) for the resist. I'm trying to figure out what I used over the image, I'm sure it was some sort of solvent, maybe paint thinner? Try it, see if it works. I really don't remember, but as soon as I figure it out, I'll post it and let everyone know!

Holy crap! That's the coolest collage technique I've ever heard! And hadn't known of it previous...

All those days of making annoying collages for English class would've been a lot more fun, using this technique... hehe.

Only 35 comments?? Tsk tsk, you people who faved without commenting should be ashamed....even though I sometimes am guilty of the crime. Anyway, awesome collage, I love the way the colors are a teeny bit muted. It's really great! Keep up the good work! Oh, and by the way, I am favoriting this too, along with those 168 others. :-D

Woa... sweet.
Probably the best collage i've ever seen. Its fits in so well, everything together. Well, i dunno i think, in my opinon, the bliss writing kinda doesn't fit for me. But its still pretty damn fucking good and beautiful!

And im not much of a fan for collage, and me saying this is the best i've ever seen? That means something :D

Excellent work and congrats

Just try experimenting with things! for some reason I want to say it was acetone, but I'm not sure that's correct... either way, you may find something that gives an even cooler effect! (Just be careful, yes? XD )
